Dedicated full-time Node.js developer
Owns the TypeScript service end to end: API, workers, deploys. Makes sense when Node is a product surface, not a weekend script.

Dedicated Node.js engineers
Need a Node.js engineer for APIs, workers, or a TypeScript service beside a Laravel app? DayDecoder staffs Node as a first-class backend: typed contracts, retries, and observability — with overlap hours for the US, UK, Europe and Australia.
We hire Node.js people for services that must stay up under webhooks, sockets and job retries — not for throwing Express on a tutorial folder and calling it an architecture.
A typical brief is a TypeScript API in front of PostgreSQL, a BullMQ or similar worker for slow jobs, and a small set of webhooks that must not double-charge a customer. Another is a Node process next to Laravel: Laravel owns the domain and admin, Node owns a realtime or AI sidecar. We have written about that split in our Node.js queue guide and in the AI-integration articles on this blog.
On the public portfolio, Node.js shows up on the smart-city IoT board alongside Python, MQTT and PostgreSQL: device messages in, a dashboard out, alerts when something in the city fabric misbehaves. That is a narrower Node footprint than our Laravel catalogue, and we will not pad it. If your product is a large Node monolith, the intro call is where we say whether we are the right seat or whether you need a larger Node shop.
Express, Fastify or a similar stack, with request validation, versioned routes, and OpenAPI when another team consumes the service.
BullMQ or equivalent: retries with backoff, poison queues, and metrics so “the job is stuck” is a dashboard, not a guess.
Presence, notifications, or live IoT readings. We pick WebSockets or SSE because of the client, not because sockets sound modern.
A Node worker that calls OpenAI, parses documents, or fans out events, while PHP keeps the source of truth. Clear boundaries beat a second monolith.
Skills and tool stack
JavaScript fatigue is real. We standardise on TypeScript, a boring HTTP framework, and a queue we can operate.
The founder built ArikaJS, a Node.js and TypeScript framework with packages for auth, dates and deployment. That is public on GitHub; it is not a claim that every client product runs on it. Client work uses the stack you already have unless we agree a change in the proposal.
Engagement models
Node work is often a service, not a whole company. We size the hire to the service, not to a sales target.
Owns the TypeScript service end to end: API, workers, deploys. Makes sense when Node is a product surface, not a weekend script.
A few days a week beside your in-house JS team, or beside a Laravel squad that needs a realtime or AI worker without hiring a whole Node department.
A failing webhook, a memory leak, a BullMQ backlog. Time-logged. We will tell you if the leak is actually an architecture conversation.
Hiring process
Bring the package.json, the queue, and who pages you at 2 a.m. We will not start from a blank “MERN” slide.
Runtime version, TypeScript or not, queue, database, and how you deploy. Thirty minutes with the founder.
Dedicated, part-time or hourly, plus whether we recommend keeping Node beside Laravel instead of rewriting PHP.
Access to Git, staging, and whatever you use for logs and APM. A hire who cannot see errors cannot own them.
A small PR with tests. Proof the toolchain runs, not a three-week “setup sprint” with nothing in production.
An endpoint, a job, or a socket behaviour you can hit yourself, in overlap hours.
Webhooks and queues fail when the other party is awake. We keep afternoon overlap with the UK and Europe for incident decisions, a late window for US East Coast releases, and early calls for Australia. Batch refactors run in India hours so your stand-up is not a status novel.
If the Node service is customer-facing realtime, we agree in the proposal which hours someone is reachable. One dedicated engineer is not a follow-the-sun NOC. We would rather write that limit down than imply 24/7 coverage we cannot staff.
Morning updates waiting in your inbox when the US workday starts.
Same-day overlap for calls, reviews, and decisions.
Afternoon overlap with Central and Eastern European teams.
Early-morning calls that fit the Australian workday.
You get a backend team that already ships Laravel and cloud, so a Node sidecar does not become an orphan repo with a different culture.
New Node work is typed. Existing JS is migrated in slices. We do not freeze a 2,000-line JavaScript file and call it heritage.
Retries, idempotency and dead letters are part of the hire’s job. Our Node.js queue article is the same advice we give in a kickoff.
Laravel is our largest public catalogue. Node.js is real and smaller. If you need a 20-person Node department, we will say we are not that.
Custom Node.js and IP transfer on payment. Lockfiles, Docker and README included so another team can run it on Monday.
