Dedicated full-time AWS developer

Dedicated AWS engineers
Need an AWS engineer for a Laravel or Node product already on Amazon, or to land there without a mystery bill? DayDecoder’s founder is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect. You get overlap hours for the US, UK, Europe and Australia, and you own the infrastructure-as-code we write.
This is not a “we clicked EC2 once” page. It is a hire who can land a PHP or Node app on AWS, keep it boring, and talk about Cost Explorer without shame.
Public work lists AWS (and AWS S3) on several products, including the credit-card bill payments platform, enterprise ecommerce, and other Laravel apps that store files and run workers in Amazon accounts. Typical work is S3 for uploads, RDS or a managed database, queues, CloudFront in front of public assets, and IAM that is not a single god key on a laptop. We also run a cloud cost optimisation practice — right-sizing, idle cleanup, Savings Plans — because an AWS hire who ignores the bill is a liability.
If you need Kubernetes, we will ask why. EKS is in scope when the workload needs it; it is not a default for a single Laravel API. If you need a one-off cost audit rather than a dedicated engineer, the cloud cost page is the better door. This page is for ongoing AWS capacity inside a product team.
VPC, RDS, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, ECS or a small EC2+ALB setup that matches the app. Chosen because it fits, not because it is on a certification slide.
Staging that resembles production, migrations that run on deploy, and secrets that are not in the repo. GitHub Actions or the pipeline you already have.
S3, SQS or Redis workers, SES when email is in AWS, CloudFront for public assets. The same shapes as our Laravel case studies.
Budgets, right-sizing, lifecycle rules on S3, and a monthly look at Cost Explorer. No invented savings percentages on this page.
Skills and tool stack
The founder’s AWS Certified Solutions Architect credential is from 2024. The work is the ordinary production set, not every SKU in the console.
You should expect fluency in IAM, VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, CloudWatch, and the cost tools listed on our cloud cost page (Cost Explorer, Budgets, Compute Optimizer, Trusted Advisor). Container work when the product needs it. We will not enable a new AWS product because a blog post was excited about it last week.
Engagement models
A product that lives on AWS usually wants a recurring owner. A single misconfigured bucket can be hourly — once.
Owns environments, deploys, observability and the bill. Makes sense when cloud work is weekly, not a ticket every quarter.
A few days a week beside your backend team: hardening, cost reviews, and the next environment. Common for a Laravel squad that should not also be on-call for IAM.
A public bucket, a failed deploy, a surprise invoice line. Time-logged. A “quick look” that becomes a migration will be scoped as one.
Hiring process
We prefer a dedicated IAM user or role with least privilege, not the root login in a password manager screenshot.
The intro call plus, if you want, read-only billing and config. We will not demand AdministratorAccess to say hello.
Dedicated, part-time or hourly, and whether the first month is landing, hardening, or cost. Linked to the cloud cost audit if that is the real need.
A role scoped to the accounts we will touch. MFA. No shared root. Infrastructure changes in git when we write them.
A budget alarm, a lifecycle rule, a staging parity fix. Proof we can change the account without folklore.
What changed, what it cost, what is still noisy. In your overlap hours, with screenshots from your account, not ours.
Deploys and incident calls sit in overlap: afternoon for the UK and Europe, a late window for US East, early for Australia. Patch windows are written down. We will not bounce RDS in the middle of your Friday demo unless you asked.
Amazon’s own status is global; your users are not. If the product is US-only, we treat US hours as the constraint. If you sell in several regions, we talk about where the app and the data live before we add another AZ “for luck”.
Morning updates waiting in your inbox when the US workday starts.
Same-day overlap for calls, reviews, and decisions.
Afternoon overlap with Central and Eastern European teams.
Early-morning calls that fit the Australian workday.
Certification on the founder, production Laravel apps already on AWS, and a cost practice that refuses fake savings numbers.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect, 2024. The same person is on the call and in the account — not a partner logo farm.
We already know how Laravel queues, S3 and RDS show up in the apps we ship. Fewer “what is this worker?” meetings.
The cloud cost page lists tools and a process. We will not put “save 60%” on a hire page. Your bill is your bill until we have read it.
AWS organisations stay in your name. IaC we write is yours after payment. We are not a reseller sitting between you and Amazon.
